Clock Blithfield Compact 5 Wood Burner
- Compact footprint — 430mm wide, ideal for smaller rooms and narrow spaces
- 5kW output — same heat as the standard Blithfield 5 in a smaller body
- Heat shield option — reduces rear clearance to 200mm for tight installations
- Award-winning design — recognised for innovation in compact stove engineering
Not every room needs a full-size stove. The Blithfield Compact 5 was designed specifically for smaller spaces — narrowboats, cottages, conservatories, or cosy living rooms. At just 430mm wide, it slips into tight spots without skimping on performance. You still get the same 5kW output range, 82.3% efficiency, and A+ energy rating as its bigger siblings. An award winner that's proof good things really do come in small packages.

About the Clock Wood Burning Stoves
Clock Wood Burners are designed and manufactured in Staffordshire, combining outstanding performance with elegant, timeless design. Every stove in the range is built by British craftspeople who understand that a wood burner is more than just a heat source — it's the heart of a home.
From the compact Blithfield Compact 5 (perfect for smaller rooms at just 430mm wide) to the powerful Somersal Classic (delivering up to 14kW for large spaces), there's a Clock stove for every room size and style. The flagship Blithfield series offers the widest choice — freestanding, with log store, double-sided, or inset — while the contemporary Brocksford CS5 brings modern clean lines to spaces that demand something different.
All Clock stoves are ECODESIGN ready, SIA approved, CE and UKCA marked, and backed by a 7-year warranty. Most models achieve an A+ energy rating with efficiencies exceeding 80%. Choose from five colour finishes — Metallic Black, Honeyglow Brown, Forest Green, Light Metallic Grey, or Mojave Red — and optional extras including log stores, direct air kits, heat shields, and brass or stainless steel fittings.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where are Clock stoves made?
All Clock stoves are designed and manufactured in Staffordshire, England. British steel, British labour, British quality standards.
What fuel can I burn in a Clock stove?
It depends on the model. Multi-fuel models (Blithfield series, Somersal series) burn seasoned wood and authorised smokeless fuels. Wood-burning only models (Sudbury series, Brocksford CS5) are optimised for seasoned logs. Check the individual product page for specific fuel guidance.
What is the warranty on Clock stoves?
All Clock stoves come with a 7-year manufacturer's warranty, covering defects in materials and workmanship under normal use.
Are Clock stoves suitable for smoke control areas?
Most Clock stoves are ECODESIGN ready and SIA approved, with some models (Sudbury, Blithfield DS) carrying Clean Air certification. Always check the specific model's certifications and verify with your local authority before installation in a smoke control area.
Do I need a chimney for a Clock stove?
Yes — all Clock stoves are flued appliances requiring a suitable chimney or flue system. Flue diameters range from 130mm to 150mm depending on the model.
Can I install a Clock stove in a new build or airtight home?
Yes. Many Clock models are compatible with direct air kits, which supply combustion air directly from outside rather than drawing from the room. This is essential for modern airtight, energy-efficient homes.
What size stove do I need for my room?
As a rough guide, divide your room volume (length x width x height in metres) by 14 to get the approximate kW required. For example, a 5m x 4m x 2.5m room = 50m³ ÷ 14 = 3.6kW. The Blithfield 5 (3.5-7.5kW) or Sudbury (3-7kW) would suit. For larger rooms or open-plan spaces, consider the Blithfield 8 (6-10.5kW) or Somersal Classic (7-14kW).
What colours are available?
Five standard colours: Metallic Black, Honeyglow Brown, Forest Green, Light Metallic Grey, and Mojave Red. Brass or stainless steel fittings are also available on most models.
What is a heat shield and do I need one?
A heat shield is an optional extra that mounts on the rear of the stove, reducing the distance to combustible materials (like timber stud walls) from 500-600mm down to 200mm. If your stove will be installed near wooden structures, a heat shield gives you more flexibility.
How do I maintain my Clock stove?
Empty the ash pan regularly (when cold), clean the glass with a damp cloth and wood ash (it's a brilliant natural abrasive), and have the flue swept at least once a year. Replace rope seals when they become worn — Clock uses 12mm soft rope on all models. Annual servicing by a HETAS-registered installer is recommended.
