Fireplace Installation Services

Complete project management

At Marlow Stoves, we install wood-burning stoves, pellet stoves, gas fires, electric fireplaces and bioethanol fires across London, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire and the surrounding areas.

Our installation service covers everything from the initial site assessment and flue design through to fitting, commissioning and certification where required. Whether you are a homeowner, architect, interior designer or builder, we can advise on the technical requirements and coordinate the installation with the rest of your project.

Working With Homeowners, Architects & Interior Designers

Every fireplace installation is different. We work directly with homeowners and alongside architects, interior designers, builders and other trades on renovation, refurbishment and new-build projects. For projects at an early design stage, we can review architectural drawings and specifications to advise on appliance suitability, flue requirements, clearances and installation practicalities.

For homeowners, the process usually begins with a conversation, photographs of the existing fireplace or room, and a site visit where needed.Whichever way your project begins, our aim is to make the installation process straightforward and ensure the fireplace is properly planned before work starts.

We work alongside interior designers to ensure the fireplace becomes a beautifully integrated feature of the finished room.

03

We advise architects on technical requirements, flue arrangements and clearances from drawings and specifications.

Our Installation Process

01

Initial Enquiry & Consultation

Tell us about your project and what you would like to achieve. Where possible, send photographs of the existing fireplace, chimney and property, together with any plans or drawings. This allows us to understand the installation and provide useful initial advice before arranging a site visit.

02

Showroom Consultation & Appliance Selection

If you are choosing a new appliance, our Marlow showroom has a selection of stoves and fires on display. We can talk through the options that suit your property, room and budget, and advise on which are technically suitable for your installation.

03

Initial Estimate

Once we understand the proposed installation, we can provide an initial estimate or budget indication. If there are elements that cannot be confirmed until we visit the property, we will make this clear within the estimate.

04

Proceeding With Your Project

Once you are happy to proceed, we will confirm the next steps, order requirements and payment terms. Where an appliance needs to be ordered, we will also confirm the manufacturer lead time.

05

Pre-Installation Site Visit

Before installation, we carry out a detailed site visit to confirm measurements and the proposed installation. This may include checking the existing chimney, proposed flue route, hearth requirements, access, fireplace dimensions and any preparation or structural work required. We will also identify anything that needs to be completed by your builder or other trades before installation begins.

06

Preparation & Installation

Once everything is ready, the agreed installation works begin. Depending on your project, this may include chimney lining, twin-wall flue installation, fireplace or chamber preparation, hearth installation and fitting of the appliance itself. For larger projects, we work alongside your builder and other trades to coordinate the installation with the surrounding construction and finishes. The scope of work will be agreed beforehand.

07

Commissioning & Certification

Once the installation is complete, the appliance is commissioned and the relevant certification arranged. Wood-burning and pellet stove installations are commissioned and certified as required. Gas installations are commissioned by a Gas Safe-registered engineer. Electric and bioethanol installations are completed in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and the requirements of your particular project. We will explain the operation of your new appliance and provide the relevant documentation.

08

Aftercare & Support

Our service does not end once the installation is finished. We are available if you have questions about correct use, maintenance and servicing. For solid-fuel appliances, we also offer chimney sweeping and stove servicing to help keep your stove and flue system operating safely.

Installation Services

01

Wood-Burning Stove Installation

Installing a wood-burning stove involves more than fitting the appliance. The installation must consider the chimney or flue system, ventilation, hearth, distances to combustible materials and Building Regulations.

Where there is an existing chimney, this will usually need to be assessed and may require a new flue liner. Properties without a suitable chimney can often accommodate a stove using a purpose-designed twin-wall insulated flue system. If your property is within a Smoke Control Area, we will advise on choosing a suitable DEFRA-exempt appliance.

As HETAS-registered installers, we can manage the complete installation and arrange the appropriate certification.

02

Pellet Stove Installation

Pellet stoves require a flue system, ventilation and an electricity supply for the automatic feed and control systems. Installation requirements vary depending on the appliance and property.

We advise on correct positioning, flue routing, ventilation and clearances, as well as any structural or hearth requirements. Pellet stoves also need to be commissioned correctly so the controls, feed rate and safety systems operate as designed.

03

Gas Fire Installation

Modern gas fires can be installed using an existing chimney or a balanced flue system, depending on the appliance and property. We consider the appliance, flue arrangement, ventilation and surrounding construction as part of the overall installation design.

Gas work and final commissioning are completed by a Gas Safe-registered engineer, with the relevant certification provided after installation.

04

Electric Fireplace & Media Wall Installation

Electric fires are often used where a traditional chimney or flue is not available or required. We install built-in electric fires, media walls and feature fireplaces.

These projects can involve coordination with the surrounding construction, television position, soundbar, lighting and cabinetry. For architect- or designer-led projects, we can provide appliance dimensions and technical information so the fireplace is correctly incorporated into the design from the outset.

05

Bioethanol Fireplace Installation

Bioethanol fires do not require a conventional chimney or flue, but correct specification and installation are still important. We consider the appliance, room size, surrounding materials, required clearances and manufacturer’s installation requirements as part of the project.

We can also coordinate with your builder or joinery team where a bioethanol fire is being built into a bespoke fireplace, feature wall or piece of furniture.
